PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize waste liquid as fertilizer for ume (Japanese apricot) trees or plants by a method wherein organic acid contained in waste liquid is neutralized using ammonia and compounds containing ammonia, in waste liquid produced in preparing pickled ume, to make the acid harmless. SOLUTION: Waste liquid is desalted by an ion dialysis method using an electrodialysis device to provide raw liquid, and compounds containing ammonia or potassium or compounds such as urea which generate ammonia are added to the raw liquid or diluted raw liquid to neutralize citric acid, malic acid, acetic acid, etc., which have pH of 2-3 and are contained in the waste liquid, so that pH becomes in a neutral range of 6.5-8.5 and the waste liquid is made harmless. Thus the waste liquid can be utilized as fertilizer for Japanese apricot trees or plants or as soil conditioner, and by using the liquid as fertilizer, industrial waste can be eliminated so that treatment cost can be reduced to the smallest possible degree. |
