Surfactant ligands and method of obtaining them. The surfactant ligands comprise a hydrophobic part, a polyether chain, a hydrophilic group and a donor or phosphine group, and have the general formula I: <IMAGE> in which: R1 may be a (C6H4)CxH2x+1 chain or a CxH2x+1 chain with a value of x between 5 and 20, R2 may be a CyH2ySO3A, CyH2yN(CmH2m+1)3B, C6H4SO3A, C6H4N(CmH2m+1)3B where the value of y may be between 1 and 10 (A = contracation, B = contraanion), R3 may be a CxH2x+1 alkyl group, a partly or wholly substituted aryl group or the group R1-O-(CH2-CH2-O)n- (CH2)m-PR2-(CH2)m, n has a value between 1 and 99, and m has a value between 1 and 5. The method comprises a first synthesis of the chlorinated products and a second synthesis of the phosphines. Ligands of general formula I can be used in many applications, e.g. as components to obtain surfactant catalysts in many homogeneous and microheterogeneous catalysis processes.
