The retractable bollard (3) slides in a bollard body (1), located under ground level, between service and non-service positions. The bollard body is provided in its upper part with a connected cover (4) having a central tubular skirt (9). The bollard is surmounted by a cross member (10) connected to a hub (12) axially encastred in the bollard and passed through by axial screws (15). The bollard body is surmounted by a casing (16),open in the upper part, the side walls of which have indentations (17) for housing the cross member when out of service. The casing is covered by a facing material (18) defining at right-angles to the indentations a neck (20) for housing the cross member.
