The process is for the fabrication of a core structure for joint seals for motor vehicles of the type consisting of a metallic band (B) made up by the alternation of open worked parts (10a,10b) and of solid transverse parts (11a,11b) joined together by a bridging piece (K) parallel to the longitudinal axis (X) of the band. It includes punching the transverse slotting (F) on the lateral edge of a metal ribbon, then cutting out in a crenellation form (C), the central part (12) of the ribbon (R) in a way to form two separate bands.
