Ski binding with release element turnable

The especially cross-country ski binding has a bar element, movable between a holding and a release position. A release element is held in pretensioned ready position by a power accumulator, e.g. a spring (8). When the boot is moved sideways out of the longitudinal direction of the ski, the release element is moved sideways, the bolt element is moved into release position against the spring, and retained in this position. The bolt element is pivoted about a horizontal transverse axis. The free bolt end closes the open side of a recess (11) in the baseplate. A U-shaped bracket (9) fits into the recess, and the spring, the bolt, and a recess are positioned in a pivoted base (5).
