<p>The invention relates to a low density, noncaloric gum product that approaches a zero calorie gum and a continuous process and apparatus for making the product. Air is uniformly mixed into the gum mass under a high pressure in a relatively low temperature environment of about 45 to 65 °C, depending on the gum base selected. Gum products can be produced, if desired, having less than 1 calorie per 1.5 gram packaged piece and oftentimes from about 0.3 to 0.5 calorie or less per packaged piece by in line injection of flavorings, sweeteners, and colorants in the absence of typical corn-based caloric carriers and fillers.</p> |
