PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve assembling workability of speed change gear mechanism to a case member in an automatic transmission in which two friction elements for connecting a specified rotating member constituting the speed change gear mechanism, to the case member are arranged on the radial inside and outside of the specified rotating member. SOLUTION: A low reverse brake 90 and a one-way clutch 100 for connecting a front internal gear 34 constituting speed change gear mechanism, to a transmission case 10 are arranged on the radial outside and inside of the gear 34. At the time of assembling the speed change gear in this constitution, a fitting part Z of the low reverse brake 90 and a fitting part Y of the one-way clutch 100 are axially offset so that fitting of locking members 103...103 of the one-way clutch to an inner race 102 is commenced after a spline 91a of a hub 91 in the low reverse brake 90 is meshed with splines 94a...94a of all rotating side clutch plates 94...94.
