PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the peak isolation wavelength of an optical isolator without selectively substituting constitutional parts having different thickness. SOLUTION: The optical isolator is constituted of arranging a Faraday rotor 2 between a 1st polarizer 1 on an input end side and a 2nd polarizer 3 on an output end side. A test beam of prescribed wavelengthλis generated from the output end side of the 2nd polarizer 3 to the input end side of the 1st polarizer 1 and the intensity of the beam is detected by the input end of the 1st polarizer 1. The rotor 2 is obliquely deformed and the inclined position of the rotor 2 minimizing the intensity of the detected beam is set up as a peak isolation position at the wavelengthλof the isolator.
