PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily switch the operation mode of a device to an automatic document feeder(ADF) mode for separating/carrying only one document from a bundle of document loaded in a document loading part or a manual document feeder(MDF) mode for carrying a special document loaded in the document loading part. SOLUTION: A stopper 13 is held at a restraining position, to prevent a separating belt 8 from being rotated according to a feeding roller 6, so that the ADF mode is set. Further, the stopper 13 is moved to a released position by an electromagnetic solenoid 12, to make the separating belt 8 rotatable in accordance with the feeding roller 6, so that the MDF mode is set. At the time of setting the ADF mode, only one document at the bottom is separated from a bundle of documents and carried in a downstream direction and residual documents are held in a nipping part by the frictional force by the separating belt 8 and between the documents D, until one document D at the bottom is made free from the nipping part. At the time of setting the MDF mode, the special document inserted into the nipping part is carried in the downstream direction by the feeding roller 6 and the separating belt 8. |
