An air-intake passage (1) supplies combustion air to the compressor of the gas-turbine, while the output piping (3) carries gas from a pump or compressor driven by the turbine. The safety heat-exchanger (2) forms part of the output piping and is mounted in the intake passage. Fins (6) can be provided on the outer air side of the exchanger, and a two-stage leakage alarm (8) can be connected to an intermediate chamber (7) in the exchanger. The chamber in the heat exchanger can be filled with a neutral medium under pressure such as nitrogen gas, or held under vacuum. One stage of the alarm reacts to an alternation in the pressure or vacuum in the chamber.
