A battery terminal post connector having first and second clamp components (11, 12) shaped to receive and grip a battery terminal post under the action of a resilient compression spring (16) which urges the components (11, 12) towards one another to grip the post. The connector also includes a release element (25) which is moveable relative to the components and which, during such movement, cooperates with at least one of the components to provide a camming action driving the components apart against the action of the spring so as to release the grip of the components on the post in use.
