In a steering column assembly with a tilt holding force adjustment mechanism, a distance bracket member (32) supporting a steering column is disposed between side walls (35) of an upper clamp member (39) fixed to a vehicle body. A tilt bolt (20) passes through elongate apertures (36) formed in the side walls (35) of the upper clamp member (34), and bolt holes formed in the distance bracket member (32).
