PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for economically producing Nd-Fe-B alloy powder having a uniform compsn., fine in powdery grain size and low in the content of Ca and oxygen. SOLUTION: A mixture of Nd2 O3 powder, Fe powder, FeB powder, metallic calcium and calcium chloride is heated at 900 to 1300 deg.C in an inert gas atmosphere or in a vacuum, and the obtd. produced mixture is charged into water and is collapsed and cleaned while the concn. ratio of chlorine ions to hydroxide ions in the water, i.e., [Cl<-> ](mol/l)/[OH<-> ](mol/l) is regulated to <=0.4. The Nd-Fe- B alloy powder having <=15μm average grain size and <=0.15wt.% oxygen content can be obtd.
