PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the appearance of the product by drawing a loop portion remaining on the machine side after the cutting operation certainly to inside a needle plate claw, and making constant the length of the loop to be sewn into the seam of cloth. SOLUTION: A suction hole 14a of an air suction nozzle 14 to draw in the free end of a loop portion remaining on the machine side upon being cut by a cutting mechanism 15 along with the stop of machine operation among a loop extending from the tail of the cloth to a needle plate claw 3 is installed on the working surface of a sewing machine in a position near the cloth sendout side of the cutting mechanism 15, and in the position confronting a loop lead-in hole 3a in the needle plate claw 3, an air blowout pipe 12 having an opening 12a is provided through which air is blown out toward the hole 3a after the free end of the loop portion remaining on the machine side is drawn into the suction hole 14a. When this loop drawn into the suction hole 14a is going to be moved into the hole 3a by the air blown off from the opening 12a of the blowout pipe 12, or prior to movement, the cutting is conducted and the produced free end is moved into the hole 3a.
