PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new antibiotic having a strong antifungal activity and low toxicity to animal cells and capable of readily mass-producing and useful as an antifungal agent from a cultured product of a bacterium belonging to the genus Cystobacter. SOLUTION: This 6-[2-(2-isopropylthiazole-4-yl)thiazole-4-yl]-3-methyl-2,4- dimethoxy-1-methoxycarbonyl-1,5-hexadiene is represented by the formula or its salt. The compound of the formula is obtained by culturing Cystobacter fuscus (e.g. FERM P-15997) at pH 6-9, preferably 7.0-8.5 and 10-38 deg.C, preferably 27-30 deg.C for 3-5 day and separating and purifying the cultured product by various chromatography from culture solution. |
