PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To render superior gloss feasible by providing a gloss giving layer consisting of a composition having ultraviolet curing resin as a main component in an ink ribbon for implementing multi-step recording through permeating and fixing heat-melt ink in a porous layer of the recording paper surface by a recording head. SOLUTION: In carrying out thermal transfer recording, an ink ribbon 1 and recording paper 2 are fed in superimposed relation between a thermal head 3 and platen roller 4, and the thermal head 3 is pressed against the platen roller 4; then, a heat resistive body of the thermal head 3 is heated so as to transfer an ink layer 1a from the ink ribbon 1 to a recording paper foundation body 2b for its image recording, following this, a gloss giving layer 1x is transferred onto the ink layer 1a. The ink ribbon used herein is formed such that the ink layer 1a and gloss giving layer 1x are successively coat-formed continuously on an ink ribbon base 1b, and the gloss giving layer 1x is provided in a separation transferable manner on the base 1b by a composition consisting mainly of ultraviolet curing resin. |
