PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup system capable of further improving the light efficiency, by using a reflecting layer and one pair of 1/4λ-plates. SOLUTION: This optical pickup system 200 is arranged containing a light source 210 for generating a beam of light, a beam splitter 220 for transmitting a part of a P-polarized component through an optical disk 250 onto its recording surface 252 and reflecting an S-polarized component, the 1st 1/4λ-plate 230 for transforming the P-polarized component to be transmitted, opposite to the light source 210 via the beam splitter 220, a photodetector 270 for detecting reflected beam of light from the recording surface of the optical disk 250, the 2nd 1/4λ-plate 264 for transforming the transmitted P-polarized component and an optical device 260 provided with a reflecting plate 262 for reflecting an incident beam of light. |
