Drying compressed gases

Compressed gases, esp. compressed air are dried using equipment in which the driers are only regenerated when a predetermined maximum volume of gas has passed through them. The system comprising one or more compressors connected to one or other of two drying vessels or drying agent regenerators and provided with suitable control and operating equipment, has a device connected to the compressor and/or the two drier vessels or their feed and discharge pipes, which records its operating time and/or volume of air delivered, and transfers this data partly or wholly to a programmer which switches over the gas stream in accordance with the gas throughput to a drier whose dessicant has been regenerated.
