The invention concerns novel benzotriazoles of formula (I) in which R stands for optionally substituted heterocyclyl; Y stands for a direct bond, -CH2- -CH2CH2-, -CO-, -SO2-, -CO-O- or -SO-O-, in the case of the two last-mentioned groups the carbon atom or the sulphur atom being bonded to the nitrogen atom of the triazole ring; X1 - X4 stand for hydrogen or various substituents; and their acid salts of addition and metallic salt complexes. The invention further concerns a method of preparing these substances and their use as microbicides for protecting plants and materials.
