PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the waste of circuits and to reduce costs by performing color demodulation according to a clock signal which is synchronous and in the same frequency with a color signal of a video signal that compresses the time axis of a decoded video signal. SOLUTION: A decoded video signalϕ1 of one program is converted into a digital code string by an A/D converter 1. A signal is written to line memory 2 in a frequency 4fsc , on the other hand, one line each is read twice in its double frequency 8fsc and the time axis of the signalϕ1 is compressed to 1/2. A clock generator circuit 10 generates a clock signalϕc3 ' which is in the same frequency 2fsc with a color signal C' that is generated by a D/A converter 6 and whose phase is inverted at a middle point of each horizontal interval. A color demodulation circuit 11 demodulates signals C' and Y according to a clock signalϕc3 ' and generates color difference signals Y, R-Y and B-Y. Also, a decoded video signalϕ2 of the other program is compressed and decoded like the signalϕ1 .
