Brake friction pad assembly

The pad assembly comprises a backing plate device having opposed faces and at least one extrusion opening extending between the opposed faces. A moulded friction-generating pad element is in contact with one of the backing plate device opposed faces, and a moulded noise-damping pad element which overlies and contacts a portion of the other of the backing plate device opposed faces. The noise-damping pad element is joined to the friction-generating pad element by moulded material contained within the extrusion opening. The moulded friction-generating pad element and the moulded noise-damping pad element are moulded of the same composition.
