A method for storing and dialing frequently dialed telephone numbers. Names of parties corresponding to telephone numbers, and the telephone numbers themselves, are encoded numerically using a standard telephone keypad, and stored in a lookup table. Provision is made for guaranteeing the uniqueness of stored encoded names despite the many-to-one mapping of letters to numbers inherent in a standard telephone keypad. The telephone number of a desired party is dialed by dialing the name of the party. |
