PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method which is adaptable to colors as well and is capable of achieving high image quality and long life with a small-sized and simple device without requiring intricate constitution and control. SOLUTION: This image forming method consists in developing the electrostatic latent image on an electrostatic latent image holding member 1 by disposing a magnetic carrier 4 on a mixing and agitating member 3 composed of a magnet roll including a permanent magnet in a sleeve, supplying the nonmagnetic toners 6 from a hopper 5 and subjecting the tones to triboelectrostatic charge by rotation of the permanent magnet or sleeve or both thereof, then supplying the developers to a developer carrying member 2 alternately arranged with magnetic poles of the polarities different from each other over the entire periphery with intervals of 25 to 250μm. The development is executed by setting the electric field peeling intensity at which 50% of the nonmagnetic toners move from the developers on the developer carrying member at <=1.0×10<6> V/m, the napping rate of the developers on the mixing and agitating members at <=0.15mm and the toner electrostatic charge quantity of the developers in the region where the developers subjected to the triboelectrostatic charge are supplied from the mixing and agitating member to the developer carrying member at a range of |15μc/g|<=QY<=|3-μc/g|. |
