摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material on which data is to be recorded by ink jet which is free from cracks in an ink absorptive layer coat, when forming an ink absorptive layer by applying a coating liquid containing an alumina hydrate on a support. SOLUTION: This material on which data is recorded by ink jet consists of an alumina hydrate and a water-soluble binder. In this case, the alumina hydrate is of a flat plate-like pseudo boehmite structure having an average aspect ratio of 3-7, and a fine pore volume of 0.1ml/g or more in a range of fine pore radius of 2nm or more-10nm or less. In addition, polyvinyl alcohol is used as a water-soluble binder which has a degree of polymerization of 2000 of more and a degree of saponification of 88% or more-not more than 100%. Further, at least, one type of ingredient selected between boric acid and borate is added to the ink absorptive layer. Thus it is possible to form the ink absorptive layer in which the generation or cracks is controlled on a support.
