摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fatigue resistance of surface-hardened components having a surface thickness that is provided for one or more among rolling, sliding, wearing, bending and pitching. SOLUTION: The device determines the magnitude of fatigue strength in the surface of a component and in predetermined plural points along the thickness (t) of this component. The magnitude of a loaded fatigue stress is also measured that actuates on this component in such surface and the points. Then, a compressive residual stress profile is prepared from the surface to the thickness (t) of this component. The compressive residual stress in the surface of the component and in the predetermined plural points along the thickness (t) has a magnitude enough to obtain net resultant stress at least 25% lower than the fatigue strength each in the surface and the corresponding plural points.
