PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure an optimal recording operation even when a motor or a motor driver having different characteristic is employed by driving a motor through one of a plurality of previously prepared control means selected depending on the results from a detection means for the motor or a motor drive. SOLUTION: When a recorder is operated for the first time, a CPU 20 determines which motor drive and motor are mounted on a board. In the recorder, an LF motor driver A and a CR motor driver A are mounted as the motor driver while an LF motor A and a CR motor A are mounted as the motor. Conduction check is employed for determining the mounting. When the CPU 20 recognizes combination of the LF motor A and CR motor A with respective motor drivers, the LF motor A and CR motor A are driven with reference to a control table of motor previously optimized for that combination and stored in an ROM 24. |
