PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a lithium manganese compound oxide improved in packing density while maintaining electrochemical properties such as energy density and cycle characteristics and to obtain a lithium secondary battery having a high energy density comprising the lithium manganese dioxide oxide as an anode active substance. SOLUTION: This method for producing a lithium manganese compound oxide comprises mixing manganese oxide with a lithium salt, primarily baking the mixture to give a lithium manganese compound oxide, reducing the degree of crystallization of the compound oxide and secondarily baking the compound oxide. Before and/or after the reduction in the degree of crystallization of the lithium manganese compound oxide obtained by the primary baking, a lithium salt is added to the compound oxide, mixed and baked. The primary and the secondary bakings are carried out at 250-900 deg.C. A nonaqueous lithium secondary battery using the lithium manganese compound oxide as an anode is obtained. |
