METHOD OF EXCAVATING INTERSECTING PIT FROM EXCAVATED PIT AND EXCAVATING DEVICE THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of being unable to excavate in the intersecting direction of an axis from a narrow place such as the inside of an adit limited in the size of working space because of a conventional tunnel excavator being long in the whole machine length. SOLUTION: A cutter head H for excavating an intersecting pit T in an intersecting direction to an axis (c) of an excavated pit (t) is provided. A driving device K for rotatory-driving the cutter head H and imparting thrust in an excavating direction is slidably supported by a supporting tower L. The supporting tower L is provided with grippers 21, 22 fixed to the wall surface (f) of the excavated pit (t) so as to receive reaction during excavation. The cutter head H is rotatory-driven and slid with thrust imparted in the excavating direction so as to excavate the intersecting pit T in the intersecting direction to the axis (c) of the excavated pit (t).
