The rearview mirror has a mirror glass holder, held pivoted in a housing. A tension/traction element (7) engages on the glass holder (2), to dampen the holder vibration generated during travel. The element is guided by friction in a housing-fastened flexible curved sleeve (8). The tension/traction element is fitted into the end of the sleeve, and this end is located at a distance (a) to the holder, which corresponds to the maximum mirror adjustment angle.
