Pressure-sensitive switch installed in vehicle seat

The multiple insulating layer construction (PSS) is for a pressure-sensitive switch. It incorporates a first insulating layer (10) which rests on top of a second insulating layer (20) which has a first set of circular apertures, e.g. six apertures, so that the first insulating layer may be pushed down into contact with the third insulating layer (30). There is a fourth insulating layer (50) under the third insulating layer, with a second set of apertures under the first set of apertures in the second insulating layer. The first set of apertures have a larger diameter than the second set. The fourth insulating layer rests on the bottom or fifth insulating layer (60). All the flexible insulating layers are separated by thin conducting foils.
