BOLTED CONNECTOR FOR CONNECTING BEAMS TO COLUMNS

A bolted connector includes a bulk head (12) for connection to a column and a plate (14) extending from the bulk head (12) for connection to a beam. The bulk head (12) has a compact tapered shape which provides a reduced surface area end surface (16) coming into contact with the column and thereby creates an advantageous configuration which avoids the prying action of the prior art T-shaped brackets. The plate (14) extending from the bulk head (12) includes a plurality of bores (30) for attaching the plate (14) to a flange of a beam. The plate (14) has a first thickness at a portion (32) of the plate (14) which is adjacent the bulk head (12) and a second smaller thickness at a portion (34) of the plate (14) furthest from the bulk head (12).
