Composition (I) for treating asbestos comprises a mixture of: (a) at least one of an organosiloxane (II) of formula Si(OR)4, a metal alkoxide of formula M(OR)m and a colloidal suspension of silica; (b) at least one organosilicone compound of formula ÄX(CH2)nÜxSi(OR)4-x; (c) at least one monomer (III) of ethylene glycol, methacrylic, acrylic, malic or phtalic acid, ethylene oxide, acrylamide, polymethylene and methylene; and (d) at least one free radical initiator (IV). R = 1-4C alkyl; M = B, Ti, Fe, Al, Mg, V, Zr, W, P or La; X = sulphydryl, amino, isocyanato, acryloyl, methacryloyl, ethylacryloyl, methylene, phenyl, anilino, ureido, thiocyanato, nitrilo or epoxy or group containing these; n = 0-3; x = 1-3; and m satisfies the valency of the metal. Also claimed is treating asbestos, and substances containing asbestos, by applying (I). |
