PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photodetector having a demultiplexing function without increasing the number of components and the number of alignment processes. SOLUTION: This demultiplexing photodetector is constituted of semiconductor optical waveguides 1 and 1a to which light is made incident and a photodetector having diffraction gratings formed in the waveguides 1 and 1a and a plurality of elements which receive diffracted light radiated into the space from the waveguides 1 and 1a. In the diffracted light radiating region 5 of the waveguides 1 and 1a, a plurality of waveguides are formed in parallel with each other so that the phases of guided light of the waveguides in the region 5 can become coincident with each other. |
