[Also in Division F2] In a method of making the housing for the actuator of Specification 1,240,745 two substantially identical housing halves 10, 20 are first cast and areas thereof, such as at 19, the mating surfaces of the flanges 11, 21 and the bearing surfaces 14, 24 are finished individually. Thereafter the halves are bolted together by means of their flanges 11, 21 and the exterior surfaces of the flanges 15, 25 and the bearing surfaces 17, 27 are finished. The halves are then separated and the components of the actuator assembled in one half to which the other is subsequently secured. The actuator has a plunger 70 reciprocated by fluid-pressure in cylinders 31, 42 and having a pin 63 with rollers on its ends engaged with slots 56, 57 in the arms of a lever means 50 which is rotatable in apertures 13, 23 and has a keyway 59 for engagement by a valve stem. |
