PURPOSE:To jog optical fibers individually and forcibly and to completely automate multi-fiber batch alignment by placing piezoelectric elements, fixed to movable pieces stacked in saw-tooth V grooves, in independent and individual operation. CONSTITUTION:A base 1 consists of a couple of slanting surfaces 1a which have a 45 deg. tilt angle and where the movable pieces 2 are arranged and a plane part 1b for positioning the movable pieces 2. The optical fibers 4 are arranged, one by one, in plural V successive grooves formed in a saw-tooth shape by stacking the movable pieces 2 in steps on the slanting surfaces 1a. The piezoelectric elements 3 are fixed to the movable pieces 2 and finely expanded or contracted to jog the movable pieces 2, thereby aligning the respective optical fibers with opposite-side optical fibers which are arranged opposite correspondingly. Only the desired optical fiber can accurately and finely be adjusted through the operation of the piezoelectric element provided independently to each of the movable pieces 2. |
