A torque converter wheel housing (40a) consists of a main section (41), a joining zone (42) and a stepped zone (43). The main section (41) has a curved inner circumferential area (41a) bearing wheel blades facing a turbine (5) wheel. The cylindrical joining zone (42) has a larger diameter than the outer circumference of the inner surface (41a) and is joined to a forward cap (3). The stepped zone (43) links one end of the main area (41) near the motor, with one end of the joining zone (42) being close to the gear. A corner zone which is formed from the inner circumferential surface (41a) and a surface (43a) near the motor, has a radius of 4 mm or less created by press-forming.
