PURPOSE:To reduce a storage area when data are stored, and to decrease the transfer time of the data when the data are transferred by compressing the data with paying attention to the continuous part of a bit array in the data. CONSTITUTION:The data expressed in the bit array are inputted through an input means 12 to a deciding means 13. When the data are processed in units of certain bits, a deciding means 13 decides whether one or more than two continuous sections of the same bits exist in the data. A compression processing means 14 encodes the continuous pattern of the same bits, compresses the data, when two or more continuous sections of the same bits exist, the means 14 compresses the data by dividing them at every continuous section, and thereafter the means 14 combines the divided data. Thus when the data are stored, the capacity of a storage device is decreased, and when the data are transferred, the data transfer time is shortened. |
