The invention concerns a process for preparing polymers from vinylaromatic compounds in dispersion, characterized in that polymerization is carried out in the presence of a dispersing aid and a catalyst obtained from: (A) a transition metal complex of the second or eighth subgroup; (B) a cation-forming agent; and (C) optionally an aluminium compound.
