1,220,230. Valves. EDWARD WECK & CO. Inc. 5 Feb., 1968 [9 Feb., 1967], No. 5605/68. Heading F2V. In a pressure relief valve 10, there is disposed within a chamber 12, which is formed between an inlet 14 and outlet 15 and defined by the plastics valve housing 11, a fixed permanent magnet 19 which has formed therein an inlet orifice 20, a fixed permanent magnet 25 which has formed therein outlet ports 28 and a permanent magnet valve member 18 which is movable between the fixed magnets and has formed therein ports 26, the arrangement being such that there is a resultant magnetic attraction which, in the absence of a certain predetermined pressure of fluid within the inlet 14, causes the valve member to seat on magnet 19 so closing the inlet orifice 20. Upon the inlet pressure exceeding the above mentioned predetermined value, the valve member is caused to move, partly by fluid pressure and partly by magnetic attraction, into engagement with the fixed magnet 25, the polarity of the various magnets being so arranged that ports 26 and the outlet ports 28 are never misaligned during such movement. |
