1301112 Seed-dressing devices IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 30 April 1970 [19 May 1969] 25424/69 Heading A2Q A seed dressing device comprises a pair of juxtaposed, contra-rotating seed treating rollers 3, 4 each having an outer layer of resilient foraminous material to retain liquid seed-dressing, means for delivering seed to the roller nip, and means to feed liquid seed-dressing to the rollers. Liquid seed dressing may be applied to roller 4 by means of transfer rollers 10, 11 one of which is in contact with a reservoir of seed dressing 12. Seed 2 in a hopper is drawn between the rollers 3, 4 by the rotation of the latter which is preferably effected at different speeds, by a driving chain 5 passed around pulleys 6 and 7 of different diameter, so that the seeds are rolled to ensure that they are uniformly covered. In a further embodiment, seed dressing is sprayed from a nozzle (14, Fig. 2, not shown) on to one of the rollers (3). |
