An anilide derivative useful as an atherosclerosis treating drug, represented by the following formula (I): wherein X is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; Y is a hydrogen atom or an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; Z is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; A is an alkylene group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R is an alkyl group having 6 to 20 carbon atoms, an alkanoyl group having 2 to 20 carbon atoms or a benzyl group which may be substituted with an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; and n is 0, 1 or 2.
