PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lubricant composition that has friction characteristics suitable for internal combustion engines, manual transmissions, automatic transmissions, differential gears, etc., and improves fuel consumption performance of the engines. SOLUTION: This lubricant composition, which is low frictional, and noticeably improves fuel consumption performance, contains lubricant base oil which has 22 mass % or less quantity of NOACK evaporation and 17% or less content of residual components at GCD 371 deg.C, and also contains effective quantities of: 1) an olefin copolymer whose weight average molecular weight is 5×10<4> or more, 2) an alkaline earth metal salycilate-based compound having total basicity of 65mg KOH/g, 3) an organomolybdenum compound, 4) an organic zinc thiophosphate-based compound, and 5) a sulfur-based compound. |
