PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a utilization efficiency of light from a light emitting part and to enhance the screen luminance by controlling the transmitting light quantity in each picture element part with a lenticular lens and displaying a color video. SOLUTION: By the lenticular lens 3, only red light (R) from a vertically striped red light emitting part 1R of a source of light 1 is guided to a picture element part 2R for red light on a liquid crystal panel; only green light (G) from a vertically striped green light emitting part 1G of guided to a picture element part 2G for green light; and only blue light (B) from a vertically striped blue light emitting part 1B is guided to a picture element part 2B for blue light. And, color video is displayed by controlling the transmitting light quantity in each picture element part 2R, 2G, 2B based on the video signals. Thus, since the configuration does not use color filter, the utilization efficiency of light or respective light emitting part 1R, 1G, 1B are improved and the screen can be made brighter. |
