PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the light emission efficiency, increase the number of pulses, and provided a display high in luminance by elongating the period of pulse voltage of display function of a PDP. SOLUTION: One of electrodes Y in the middle set, electrode Y1, is impressed with a pulse voltage 105 of scanning function. This voltage 105 is well timed with the data corresponding to a, e.g. first subfield of electrode A. Accordingly the pulse voltage 105 of the scanning function of electrode Y1 conducts the writing function of the first subfield. Next, the electrode Y2 is likewise impressed with the pulse voltage 105 of scanning function in correspondence with the data of the first subfield of electrode A. Thus while the scanning function of the first subfield in a middle set is performed, the scanning function of the other subfield in another set is performed. And the voltage of the scanning function of the same subfield scans the writing data to be impressed on electrode A at an interval of the number of the sufields. |
