A shield is provided for protecting graphics related to a control mechanism. In order to achieve the objective of enhancing visibility, a dome or bubble shaped magnifying section is provided within the shield. The magnifying section is sized and posit ioned such that it magnifies only the setting that the user has selected. The shield is sec ured by an attachment mechanism to the controlled device. The control mechanism is movable such that the setting selected by the user appears under the magnifying section of th e shield.
