<p>A corner of the leading edge of a sheet is transversed across a roller having pref. a line of apertures so that the edge is held parallel against the roller by a suction applied through the apertures, and the roller is rotated to move the edge downwardly so that it folds over and passes between the roller and an endless conveyor moving more slowly beneath the roller. A pref. foamed rubber pad on the roller presses the sheet behind the leading edge against the conveyor so that the leading edge is pulled from the roller, and the sheet can be carried on the conveyor to the calender roller of e.g. a bleaching machine. A transverse tension may be applied to the trailing part of the sheet to prevent at creasing.</p> |
