The support (10) has a baseplate (13) which has at least one roller element on it. The baseplate is attached to flexible or elastic elements such as cables, belts or chains. The cables may be fastened directly or through an intermediate arrangement of springs (27), preferably on the inside of the support. In an initial position, the baseplate is retained concentrically symmetrical to the longitudinal axis of the support against the roller element. After an ensuing compensating travel and lifting of the support from the ground, the baseplate is drawn back into the initial position.
