The apparatus feeds and/or removes a receipt to or from a container (1) transported on a conveyor (2). The container has a holder (23) on one side for the receipt esp for an ordering system. The apparatus has a receipt feed or removal device (8) which is movable in and against the conveyer device of the container. A carrier (6) for the receipt feeding and removal device is provided on a frame (4) in the region of the conveyor. The carrier is movable by means of a drive device (7), relative to the frame as well as in and against the container conveyor direction and also perpendicular to the conveyor direction from a region outside the path of the container to the holder.
