<p>The present invention is directed to a method of producing methylated hydroxypropylcellulose (m-HPC). By controlling the degree of methylation, one can manipulate the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of the m-HPC polymer to below room temperature and thereby stabilize the polymer in water above about 30 °C. The present invention is also directed to binder compositions, fibrous substrates, water-dispersible products and thermoformable products containing the m-HPC polymer.</p> |
