1,229,990. Disazo pigments; inks. GEIGY (U.K.) Ltd. 5 June, 1969 [5 June, 1968], No. 26671/68. Headings C4A and C4P. - The invention comprises yellow disazo pigments, free of water-solubilizing groups, of formula wherein A and B are aryl residues that may be substituted, X is a C 1-4 alkyl or phenyl group and either both Z groups are -NH-Y or one is -NH-Y and the other is -OH, Y being a -CH(CH 3 )-R or -Q-NH-CH(CH 3 )-R group, wherein R is a C 5-18 alkyl radical and Q is a C 1-5 alkylene group. The pigments are prepared by condensing a disazo dye of formula with an amine Y-NH 2 or by carrying out the same reaction on the coupling component X-CO-CH 2 -CONH-B and coupling the product with a diazonium derivative of an amine A-(NH 2 ) 2 . The pigments are preferably used in the preparation of gravure inks. In Example 7 a pigment of the above formula is dispersed in a solution in a hydrocarbon solvent of a zinc/calcium resinate to give a gravure ink.
|
